Angthong Marine Park
Angthong National Marine Park comprises of group of more than 40 islands. The island group is located some 30 km /20 miles/ away from Koh Samui. Angthong National Marine Park is also known as “golden bowl” and covers an area of about 250 square km /100 square miles/. Beaches are all surrounded by incredible reefs and crystalline clear water. Tours to the National Marine Park are organized by most of the hotels from Koh Samui.
Most of the islands in the archipelago consist of limestone formations about 10-400 meters above sea level. The fauna which inhabits the archipelago is sea turtles, short-bodied mackerel, hair-nosed otters, Asian long-tailed monkey, pythons and many more. The best time to visit Angthong national marine park is late from March to October when underwater visibility is best.
