Koh Lanta Marine Park
Koh Lanta marine park is located in Southern Andaman Sea and belongs to Krabi province. It was announced as 62 National park in 1990. The whole park covers an area of 134 square kilometers /52 square miles/ including 9 islands. The geography of the area is mostly mountainous with the only plains located in the beaches.
Koh Lanta marine park flora and fauna is rich in species. Most of the park is covered with rainforest, mangrove forest. The animals that can be found there include giant mountain frog, dornia frog, water monitor, python, cobra. Sea animals include porcupine fish, lizard fish and many corals like anemone coral, staghorn coral, starflower coral and many more. The area of Koh Lanta marine park is suitable for diving and snorkeling for beginners as the area is scattered with shallow corals. You have to pay attention to the weather as during the rainy season /which is from May to November/ the park is closed for visitors.
