Turatao Marine Park
Turatao national marine park is made up of over 50 islands with of waterfalls, streams, beaches, reefs and caves spread around its territory. Turatao national marine park was formed in 1974 and is the oldest marine national park in Thailand. The Park is located in Southern Thailand in the Andaman Sea and is very close to the Malaysian border.
Turatao national marine park has very rich fauna including lionfish, angelfish, butterflyfish, groupers, trumpetfish, dolphins, sea turtles and dugongs. The largest of the islands, Koh Turatao is a mountainous landscape and has many canals, deserted and isolated bays and unspoilt beaches with white sand. The island of Koh Turatao was in the past used as a prison. The best time to visit Turatao national marine park especially for diving is from November to April.
