Temple of Dawn

Temple of Dawn, or also known as Wat Arun, is one of the best tourist landmarks in Bangkok. It is located in Thon Buri, on the west bank of the Chao Phraya river. Temple of Dawn dates back when Ayutthaya was capital of Thailand. The whole height of the tower is about 80 metres /240 feet/. The tower itself is built of bricks and decorated with thousands of multicolored ceramic fragments and tiles.

Visiting Temple of Dawn you can walk up on the very steep stairs to the main terrace to get one of the best views of the Chao Phraya river with Bangkok city in the background. Another must do while you stay in Bangkok is to watch the Temple of Dawn from the opposite side of the river during sunset. This gives you one of the most impressive views in Thailand. And you will take part and experience the magic of Thailand just like in a postcard. Remember that the sunset is everyday around 19.00, don’t miss it.
Temple of Dawn is opened everyday from 8.30 AM till 17.30 PM. The admission fee is about 30 Bahts /0.8 US dollars/ for foreigners.
