Tham Lot Cave

Tham Lot cave is both the most interesting and most visited cave for exploration and caving tourism in Thailand. The exact length is not known because there are still unexplored parts but it is well over 5 km /3 miles/. The cave is located about 80 km /50 miles/ from Mae Hong Son. Each year more than 80.000 people visit the cave and tourism is the main income in the area.

Tham Lot cave provide excellent conditions for tourism as there are good local guides. In the cave you can find impressive caverns, 1700 year-old wooden coffins, ancient clay pottery or witness how 300.000 birds /swifts and bats/ enter the cave. In addition, a small river passes through the cave so it is possible in some places to make a short voyage with a kayak.
