Tham Mae Lana Cave

Tham Mae Lana cave is 12.6 km long /7.5 miles/ and is thought to be the longest cave in Thailand. Tham Mae Lana cave is located some 4 km /2.5 miles/ away from Ban Mae Lana village and is not far away from the city of Mae Hong Son and there are songthaews within easy reach. The cave of Tham Mae Lana is a good place for adventurous tourism as it has stalagmites and stalactites. A stream runs through the cave which hosts some very rare and interesting fish species which live only there. Local guides are available. The cave was firs explored by Australian expeditions between in 1985.
