Kaeng Krung National Park
Kaeng Krung national park is located in Surat Thani province, in Southern Thailand. The park was announced in 1990, being the 69th national park in Thailand. The area protected by Kaen Krung national park is about 540 square kilometers /210 square miles/ and most of the territory is covered by evergreen forest. The area is fertile, there are many streams, hot springs and small waterfalls. The highest point in the park is Khao Sung summit with 848 metres /2820 feet/. Animals that can be found in the region of Kaen Krung national park include species like bears, tapirs, wild elephants, wild boar, monkeys, gibbon, barking dear. Tigers are rarely seen. Also great number of birds like helmeted hornbill, bulbul, fairy-bluebird and others.
