Khao Yai National Park

Khao Yai national park was established in 1962 and is the first national park in Thailand. Covering an area of 2170 square kilometers /850 square miles/ Khao Yai national park is the second largest national park in Thailand after Kaeng Krachan. In addition the park is about 200km /125 miles/ away from Bangkok and this makes it a preferred place for a weekend getaway. Khao Yai national park is also included in the UNESCO world heritage site.

The terrain of Khao Yai national park varies - from grassy fields to dense forested steep slopes. The average annual temperature is about 20 C /68 F/. The animals you can watch are mostly birds as the park has more than 320 species recorded with population of bats – more than 1.000.000. You can even enjoy night tours in Khao Yai National Park as the park offers this kind of adventure. Or if you are adrenaline hunter you can try white water rafting on Sai Yai river. This is possible from July to October. Another simple decision for a short weekend holiday is to take your tent or to rent from the park and just to relax among the nature. For further information:
