Khao Sok National Park

Khao Sok national park is located in Southern Thailand, in the province of Surat Thani. It received the status of national park in Thailand in 1989 and is the 22th national park. The park includes 740 square miles /290 square miles/ and is the largest unspoiled tropical forest in Southern Thailand. The highest peak in the Khao Sok national park is the Ka Lo mountain - 961 meters /3200 feet/. The climate in the park is influenced by both the Indian and Pacific Ocean. The rainy season starts from April until late December with torrential rains from Mai to November.

The park is a host of wildlife animals like gaur, bear, Malayan tapir, deer, macaque, gibbon, mouse deer, porcupine, wild boar, Asian wild dog, marbled cat, monkey, tiger. It also acts as the natural habitat for several for several bird species. Another attraction in Khao Sok national park is the Chow Lan lake and the Ratchaprapa dam with more than 100 islands and sheer cliffs surrounding the waters of the lake creating one unique picturesque image of the park. You can hire a boat or make a tour with a long-tailed boat. The park has also bungalows for rent, campground, and guesthouses. You can also play golf as there is a 9-hole golf course in the park. The best time to visit Khao Sok national park is during the middle of December to late January.
