Tapi River
Tapi river /or also spelled as Tapee river/ is a major river in Surat Thani province and the longest river in Southern Thailand. With length of 230km /140 miles/ Tapi river forms the lifeline of the city as the area around the river is fertile and with excellent conditions for farming and agriculture. One of the interesting facts about the Tapi river is that at its mount it has very good conditions for breeding prawns and oysters with the famous Oyster farms. In addition the waters of the river are rich in fish and that’s why there are many fishing villages around its banks. Also the river has many canals and some people compare the city of Surat Thani to Amsterdam.
